Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology
and Canfield Scientific, Inc. Announce Advances in Melanoma Management

Richard Buckley, MD and Canfield Scientific
announced the addition of DermoGenius advanced melanoma detection systems to
Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology in Milford, Pennsylvania. The
DermoGenius Ultra, a computer aided digital dermoscopic system for the imaging
and analysis of moles and a diagnostic aid in the detection of melanoma, is now
in use at Pocono Medical Care Advanced Dermatology’s Skin Cancer Imaging
Center.
The DermoGenius Ultra is a
self-contained digital system that captures high-resolution dermoscopic images
of moles. More importantly, these images are digitally analyzed and compared to
a database of normal moles, dysplastic moles and melanomas. A score is
generated indicating the potential of a mole being benign or a malignant,
facilitating early detection of melanoma. DermoGenius can also assist
physicians in minimizing the number of moles excised unnecessarily by helping
physicians to recognize benign moles.
